A Poem: The Restless Mind

I’m stuck in issues that are desolately trivial,

But in a way, it’s obligatory and pivotal,

Like currently, I wanna sound lyrically brilliant,

At the same time, I’m gonna sound foolishly criminal,

They say peace is just a theory, and that conflict is reality,

Fuck them; War is nothing more than legal brutality.

Revolutionaries and non conformists and all ‘em other chaps,

Who wants reality, when reality if full of crap?

In my generation, the perception of success is delusionary,

And success isn’t a solution, just like peace, it’s illusionary

I’ve been raised in democracy, where our leaders are “elected”,

But it’s been blazed by hypocrisy, so they are covertly selected.

The masses are brainwashed, dumbed down and oblivious,

While the honest regret honesty, thinking “Damn principles, silly us”,

Why in the world did they consider ethics, when money’s the only stimulus?

You see while you and the majority choose to remain frivolous,

The oligarchy jots down another policy, to further imprison us.

Don’t you dare refute, we operate, according to the will of a few,

They keep our soldiers uninformed, making them shoot,

While the man taking the bullet, is innocent too!

For the oppressed young, military is the answer to desperation,

He is after all just a kid with a gun, so he equates it with fun,

And is told to sweat blood for his country, for a wrong reason,

And right before he dies, and loses all ties, he comes to realise,

The obvious conclusion...

He fought, because he was a patriot, But no war is ever really won.
